Oliver (1968): lots of good and lots of bad. the musical numbers are easily forgettable aside from one amazing one in the street with all the peddlers. i actually got chills. the plot is dull and i even wonder what the whole big deal was about oliver anyways. why did bill want him dead or whatever? the acting was amazing though and the cast included the best child actors known to man. oliver and dodger and the old scary guy and the hooker girl and kill bill were all amazing. and the settings and streets of london were done so well you'd think they really filmed it in the 1800s. but set design and acting aside, plot and songs are gay, which makes for a gay musical. don't see.
Cimerron (1931): waaaay old movie and it barely had a plot. its such a flat movie with no rising action or climax or any of those things i've forgotten since that stupid class i took. the quality of the movie was terrible and the soundtrack was so awful sometimes that i had a tough time hearing the dialogue because of all the crackling. i could have sat and counted the millions of scratches that were part of the actual film. it was also hard to follow along with the main character. couldn't really figure him out. and, since it's so old, they didn't know how to make good use of music at the time, so a few scenes just seem like awkward silence. and all this from a best picture winner. i'd hate to see what it was going up against. don't see.
The Sweetest Thing (2002): refreshing to see a kooky movie based on a bunch of girls and their little adventures rather than the usual guy stories. and hot girls at that! the movie is completely ridiculous and unbelievable. acting is terrible and so on. basically, its your everyday comedy. but i'm gonna have to put it on my back up list to buy because i did enjoy it and its off the wall enough to keep my attention. the girls are hot and funny, and i was really impressed with christina applegate. so, either see it or buy it, but do at least one.
in my stats class once again. there is this chick in here who is so freaking retarded. she just asked a question that she asked last week in class. and her butt crack is hanging out too. pull up your pants gimpy. weekend pretty much sucked. kim's grandma died on friday which really blows cuz they were super close. she'll be flying out for services on thursday and come back sunday. her wisdom teeth experience was awful. bleeding and headaches and throwing up and chipmunk cheeks and "chinkity chang chang, i can't understand you." i don't mean to make fun, but that's how it was. i'm sure we'll laugh about it some day. and finally our poor little cat seems deathly ill. i'm really afraid something is very wrong, so i might take him to the vet today.
on the good note, i got my letter of recommendation for law school from judge taylor. its sooooo amazing. very short, but perfect. i'm so grateful for him. the retard girl in my class just said, "i have a high gpa and high IQ, but i don't have ADD." funny that she is the only one in class out of 28 who is yakking away and asking idiot questions. she's pretty much the only one that doesn't get it. with kim gone this week, i think i'll make it trip #7 for snowboarding this year!! not like i need her out of town to go, but since she gets to spend moola on a plane ticket, gives me a good excuse to spend money on me. so i'll be hitting up sundance on friday if all goes well. and i think i need new socks. i keep running out. lastly, my hollywood pass runs out this week. i'm debating whether i should just get a new one at a different store. i figure while i'm so into the habit of watching all these movies, i might as well keep it going. but then again, it takes up a ton of time away from things like homework and combing my hair. also takes up valuable space on this here blog. the final tally of movies will be coming soon. i think i broke some kind of western states record on video rentals. it will come out to slightly more than 1 a day. kim is getting sick of all these super old movies, but actually i'm really getting close to finally being done with my list. have like 50 left, which sounds like a lot, but i guarantee that there will be some i will never find to rent. enough yakking. i'm turning into ms. ass crack in front of me.

Talk about yakkers!!
yeah, i've thought about netflix. problem is that i like being able to go to a store and see the product and get a movie on a whim. netflix and others like it will probably put those stores out of business in like 20 years, which is a sad thing. not that i'm all for the likes of blockbuster. evil devils can rot for all i can care. its just nostalgia and principle. guess i'm not ready to move on yet and get modern with movie rentals.
yeah, word on the street is that netfilx has some benefits =)
